This guide explains how to install Cryptic Emergency Traffic for Grand Theft Auto V Legacy and LSPDFR.

The plugin improves how relevant civilian traffic ahead of your emergency vehicle reacts, helping create smoother and more natural emergency responses.

Before installing, confirm that GTA V Legacy, RagePluginHook and LSPDFR work correctly. Check the download page for the requirements listed for your release.

Read the release notes and any included installation instructions before replacing existing files.

Installation

  1. Close GTA V and RagePluginHook.
  2. Extract the downloaded archive.
  3. Locate CrypticEmergencyTraffic.dll and CrypticEmergencyTraffic.ini.
  4. Open your Grand Theft Auto V Legacy installation directory—the folder containing GTA5.exe.
  5. Open plugins\LSPDFR.
  6. Copy both files into that folder.

The required file locations are:

If the download contains additional files, install them using the supplied folder structure.

Install the plugin inside plugins\LSPDFR. Do not place the DLL directly in the main plugins folder.

Updating From an Older Version

Before installing the update:

  1. Close GTA V and RagePluginHook.
  2. Back up your existing plugin and configuration.
  3. Read the release notes for any additional update instructions.
  4. Check for older copies of CrypticEmergencyTraffic.dll in your plugins directory.
  5. Remove obsolete copies, including any previously installed directly in plugins.
  6. Install the new files inside plugins\LSPDFR.

An older installation may have used this location:

The current installation location is:

Keep only one installed copy of CrypticEmergencyTraffic.dll. Duplicate copies can cause an older version to load or allow the plugin to load more than once.

Configuration

Keep CrypticEmergencyTraffic.ini alongside the DLL:

The supplied configuration includes comments explaining the available settings. Edit it with a plain-text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++ while the game is closed.

When updating:

  1. Keep your old configuration as a backup.
  2. Use the INI supplied with the new release.
  3. Compare the new settings with your backup.
  4. Transfer your preferred values only where the corresponding options remain supported.
Do not replace the new INI with an older configuration. Settings and accepted values may change between releases.
Change one setting at a time and test the result. Preserve setting names, section headings and the value format shown in the supplied file.

Confirming Installation

  1. Launch GTA V Legacy through RagePluginHook.
  2. Allow LSPDFR to load and go on duty.
  3. Check the RagePluginHook log for Cryptic Emergency Traffic loading messages or errors.
  4. Use a supported emergency vehicle.
  5. Begin an emergency response with the emergency equipment required by your configuration active.
  6. Observe civilian traffic ahead of you travelling in the same direction.

Traffic reactions depend on whether a vehicle meets the plugin’s relevance and activation conditions.

Traffic behind you, travelling in the opposite direction or on an opposite carriageway may intentionally remain unaffected. An unaffected vehicle does not necessarily indicate an installation problem.

If the Plugin Does Not Appear to Work

Check the installation before changing settings:

  • Confirm that the DLL and INI are both inside plugins\LSPDFR.
  • Check for duplicate or outdated DLLs elsewhere in the plugins directory.
  • Confirm that LSPDFR loads and you can go on duty.
  • Check your configuration’s activation conditions.
  • Test with civilian traffic ahead of you travelling in the same direction.
  • Review the RagePluginHook log from the affected session.

Look for plugin loading failures, missing dependencies and exceptions mentioning Cryptic Emergency Traffic.

Review log entries before the final error message. Keep a copy of the affected session’s log before launching the game again.

Installation Checklist

  • GTA V Legacy, RagePluginHook and LSPDFR work correctly.
