Does Cryptic Emergency Traffic Require LSPDFR?

Yes. Cryptic Emergency Traffic is an LSPDFR plugin for Grand Theft Auto V Legacy.

It requires working installations of RagePluginHook and LSPDFR. LSPDFR also provides gameplay context for protections involving pursuits and traffic stops.

Cryptic Emergency Traffic cannot function as a standalone mod. Confirm that RagePluginHook and LSPDFR work correctly before installing it.

Why Does Not Every Vehicle Move Out of the Way?

The plugin evaluates whether a civilian vehicle is relevant before applying yielding behaviour.

A vehicle may remain unaffected because it is:

Travelling in the opposite direction
On an opposite carriageway
Behind your emergency vehicle
On an unrelated road
Outside the relevant detection area
Not meeting the configured relevance conditions
Involved in a protected LSPDFR situation
Another emergency vehicle

Your emergency vehicle must also meet the configured activation conditions.

Selective reactions are intended. The plugin is designed to manage relevant traffic ahead of you rather than every vehicle nearby.

Why Does Opposite-Direction Traffic Not React?

Opposite-direction and opposite-carriageway traffic are intentionally filtered out of normal yielding behaviour.

This helps avoid unnecessary reactions on motorways, divided roads and nearby parallel routes.

Physical proximity alone does not make a vehicle relevant to your response path.

Does the Plugin Force Vehicles Into Pull-Over Positions?

The yielding system uses GTA V’s native driving AI for steering and lane positioning.

It does not send vehicles to predetermined pull-over coordinates or directly force their forward speed through SET_VEHICLE_FORWARD_SPEED.

The plugin still applies traffic instructions. Native driving AI determines the resulting movement within the available road space.

How Does It Decide Which Vehicles Should React?

The system considers factors including:

Direction of travel
Position relative to your emergency vehicle
Distance
Relative speed
Response urgency
Road and carriageway relationship
Whether the vehicle is ahead of you
Whether the vehicle belongs to a protected situation

Does Traffic Always Stop Completely?

No. A vehicle may slow or adjust its position rather than stop.

The response depends on its relationship to your emergency vehicle, the traffic instructions applied and the surrounding road conditions.

A vehicle continuing to move does not necessarily mean it failed to yield.

Does Cryptic Emergency Traffic Work During Pursuits?

Yes. The system includes protection for LSPDFR pursuit suspects, while backup units and other emergency vehicles are excluded from ordinary civilian yielding.

Relevant civilian traffic around the pursuit may still respond.

Pursuit protection applies to involved vehicles. It does not disable all civilian traffic reactions in the surrounding area.

Does It Affect Vehicles Involved in Traffic Stops?

Vehicles involved in LSPDFR traffic stops are protected from normal civilian yielding behaviour.

This helps avoid assigning traffic instructions to vehicles already managed by the stop.

Other plugins that change traffic-stop or vehicle tasks may still affect their behaviour.

Does It Support Add-On Emergency Vehicles?

Yes, where the add-on vehicle is recognised by the plugin’s emergency vehicle classification.

Support depends on how the vehicle is configured and identified.

An emergency-style appearance alone does not guarantee recognition. If an add-on vehicle does not activate the system, compare it with a supported base-game emergency vehicle under the same conditions.

Does It Work With Police Vehicles, Ambulances and Fire Engines?

Yes. Supported emergency vehicle types include:

Police vehicles
Ambulances
Fire engines
Recognised add-on emergency vehicles

The vehicle must meet the configured activation conditions before civilian traffic management begins.

Emergency vehicles themselves are excluded from ordinary civilian yielding.

Is It Compatible With LSPDFR Backup?

The plugin is designed to avoid treating AI backup and other emergency vehicles as ordinary civilian traffic.

This helps prevent unnecessary interference with responding units.

These protections do not guarantee compatibility with every third-party backup plugin or custom vehicle configuration.

Can I Use Other Traffic-Management Plugins?

Compatibility depends on what the other plugin controls.

Plugins that assign emergency yielding tasks to the same civilian vehicles may produce conflicting instructions, unusual braking or repeated changes in behaviour.

Avoid running multiple emergency traffic-yielding plugins simultaneously unless compatibility has been confirmed.

If you encounter unexpected behaviour, temporarily disable other traffic-yielding plugins and repeat the test.

Where Is the Configuration File?

Keep the INI alongside the DLL:

Use a plain-text editor to make changes while GTA V and RagePluginHook are closed.

Check that your editor saves the file as .ini, rather than adding a .txt extension.

Does the Plugin Generate or Overwrite the Configuration?

No. Cryptic Emergency Traffic does not automatically generate, modify or overwrite its INI.

Install the configuration supplied with the release and manage your changes manually.

New configuration options are not automatically added to an older file. Obtain the updated INI when installing a new release.

Can I Adjust Traffic Behaviour?

Yes. The supplied INI contains supported detection and yielding options, with comments explaining their use.

Follow the documented formats and limits, and test one change at a time.

Larger detection values do not automatically improve behaviour. Depending on the option, changes may cause earlier or broader reactions.

Can I Use an Older Configuration With v4.0.0?

Use the INI supplied with v4.0.0.

Keep your old file as a backup, then manually transfer preferred values into corresponding settings that remain supported.

Do not overwrite the v4.0.0 INI with a file from v3.0.0 or an earlier release. Setting names, defaults and supported options may differ.

Was v4.0.0 the Complete Traffic-System Rewrite?

The complete rewrite was introduced in v3.0.0.

That rewrite established the relevance-based traffic system, native driving approach and LSPDFR protections described in these docs.

Consult the v4.0.0 release notes for changes specific to the current update.

Why Does Traffic Sometimes Brake or Steer Unexpectedly?

GTA V’s native driving AI still responds to surrounding vehicles, obstacles, junctions and limited road space.

Competing instructions from another plugin can also affect the result.

If behaviour is consistently unusual:

Back up your configuration.
Test with the supplied defaults.
Temporarily disable other traffic-yielding plugins.
Repeat the test on a straightforward road.
Record the conditions and check the logs.

Using native driving AI does not eliminate every limitation of GTA V traffic behaviour.
