Cryptic Callouts includes a configuration file that allows you to customise supported settings and individual callout availability.

Available options may change between releases. Refer to the configuration supplied with your installed version for setting names, accepted values and instructions.

When updating, use the newly supplied configuration file and transfer your preferred values into the corresponding supported settings. Do not overwrite it with an older configuration.

Finding the Configuration File

The configuration is supplied with the download and should be installed using the archive’s folder structure.

Check the plugin directory:

Grand Theft Auto V Legacy\plugins\LSPDFR\

Keep the configuration in its intended location and preserve its original filename and file extension.

Editing the Configuration

Use a plain-text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.

Close GTA V and RagePluginHook.
Back up your current configuration.
Open the file in your text editor.
Find the setting you want to change.
Read any accompanying comments explaining its purpose and accepted values.
Edit the value without changing the setting name or section heading.
Save the file before launching the game.
Test the result.

Preserve the file’s structure. Renaming settings, removing section headings or entering unsupported values may prevent settings from being read correctly.

Enabling and Disabling Callouts

Use the individual callout settings provided in your configuration to choose which scenarios are enabled.

Follow the value format used in the supplied file. Where an option uses true and false, retain that format when changing it.

Enabling a callout allows it to be selected. It does not guarantee that the scenario will be the next callout offered.

Other Settings

Review the supplied configuration for additional options supported by your release.

Follow the instructions beside each setting and keep values within any documented limits.

Change one setting at a time when troubleshooting. Test the result before making another change so you can identify which option affects the behaviour.

Updating Your Configuration

Close GTA V and RagePluginHook.
Back up your existing configuration.
Install the configuration included with the new release.
Compare the new file with your backup.
Transfer your preferred values where the corresponding options remain supported.
Review new settings before launching the game.

An older configuration may be missing new options or contain settings that are no longer supported. Keep the structure and setting names supplied with your installed release.

Restoring Default Settings

To restore the supplied defaults:

Close GTA V and RagePluginHook.
Back up your edited configuration if you want to keep it.
Extract a fresh configuration from the download matching your installed version.
Replace the edited configuration in its installation location.
Launch the game and check the result.

You can also restore a known working backup that matches your installed release.

Replacing the configuration removes the custom values stored in that file. Keep a backup if you want to restore those settings later.
